All students, with a valid Alberta Drivers License, who pass the Defensive Driving course (DDC) knowledge exam with 80% or better will qualify for a 3 point demerit reduction on his/her license. The student must apply for the reduction at any registry office.
Defensive Driving Course and Professional Driving Improvement Course (PDIC) are essential to operating a vehicle safely. Drivers are instructed on being aware of hazards on and off the road, as well as how to prepare for the hazards while driving.
People employed to drive motor vehicles for his/her living are encouraged to complete a Professional Driving Improvement Course every two years. Defensive Driving is also recommended to any supervisor or safety officer that manage a fleet of vehicles, or have employees who drive company vehicles.
